Each section will give the lesson topic, your assignment, and my writings. Get a notebook or journal and please join me on this healing journey.
For context, I went through two years of trauma dumping before getting to the point of lesson 1. So please, read this in light of where I was on the journey. If you are not at this point and need more, please seek out a professional to help guide you through the initial hard parts of facing what you’ve been running from. Sometimes we unearth things we are not quite ready to face alone.
Lesson 1: What do I want?
I literally had to start here. Sometimes we mask and cover so much for the sake of trauma that we lose ourselves in the process. And if your trauma started as a child, you might never of had the chance to know yourself to begin with. That was my situation and when I was able to move to this phase of healing after the two years of trauma dumping, I had to face the fact that I didn’t know who I was under it all.
Your Assignment:
If you would like to take this journey with me as you read, just start writing on the topic of:
“What do I want?”
Don’t stop writing until you feel like there is nothing left to say. It doesn’t even have to make sense.
If you ever feel like writing things down makes you uncomfortable, you can always burn or shred it, in a safe manner, when you are finished. Being able to destroy the writing might help you to be more honest so this journey can be beneficial. Sometimes our early thoughts are not pretty and wrapped in a bow.
My writings:
What do I want?
I know many, many things that I don’t want. I actually have no idea how to answer this question. I don’t know what I want. This year will be an exploration of discovery into the person God created me to be. I’ve lived through and tolerated so much negativity and tried to make everyone’s life as good as I could, meanwhile, I lost my health, happiness, and sanity. This started as a little girl, but it stops now. I’m 48 years old (as of this writing) and ready to let go and let God show me who I am.
What do I want? is the ultimate question. I want what God wants for me. God gave me free will, a personality, likes, dislikes, favorites, and things that make me light up. But I think a better question to start with is, “who am I?”
