Mind, Body, and Soul Healing Lesson 4

Again, another basic concept to ask yourself that for some reason, once hidden behind a life of trauma, can be the hardest question to ask, “What do I want to do?”. I had to sit with this question for a while. My whole life I did what I had to do. I was raised in poverty and had my first daughter three months after I turned 15 years old. I was homeless at 16 and facing a life that I had to do something about or my daughter would be raised the same way I was. From that point, I just did what I had to do. I improved my life greatly over the many years since then, but still, it was only what I had to do to change my family line. So here I am, at 48 asking, maybe for the first time, “What do I want to do?”. It took a while to get to the core of me and my desires.

Your Assignment:

What do I want to do?

Did you ever have a dream of what you wanted to be when you grew up? Did you go to school for something that you didn’t finish, or start a project that was put on hold? Do you have any desire for those things anymore? You might not. We change with time and experiences, and that’s okay. Today is a new day. So, what do you want to do? Write it out and don’t stop until you get to the heart of what drives you.

My Writings:

I want to make a difference. I want to be a catalyst for positive change. I want to obey and follow God’s path for me. I want to be physically active. I want to do fun things. I want to laugh and not be afraid.

I want to be free. I want to figure out what that means to me.

I want to have a significant, abundant amount of funds so my needs are met and I can help others. I want to do what I’m called to do.

These things seem so surface looking back on them. But it was a start. And the healing journey, just like anything other, starts with the first step and you just keep walking until you can run. Was this an easy assignment for you?
